Each year, members of the General Assembly are permitted by 105 ICLS 5/30-9 to award scholarships to residents in their districts that cover one year's cost of tuition at any of the state's four-year public universities.
Rep. Meyer turns over all applications to his Scholarship Committee for review. The Committee members independently score the applications, and a list of recipients is generated. Factors weighed in the review process include financial need, academic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, essay responses, and more. Decisions are made in the summer and all applicants are notified by mail.
All graduating seniors, and undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral, and continuing adult education students are encouraged to apply.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to the district office via phone or email. |
